Vision Coffee Trailer
Hello and welcome back!
Today I’ll be talking about a place that I’ve been following for a while on social media but only recently made the trek to visit.
First, you should watch THIS. It’s hilarious, and short, you’ll appreciate it.
Ok, now that that’s done, let’s talk coffee. Well, first, let’s talk mushrooms, which is important to this one and coffee. It’s weird, we’ll get around to it.
Mushrooms are pretty awesome and one of the few topics that are extremely interesting to me but also something I don’t really get to talk a lot about so most people don’t know the fascination I have for them. So, the thing you think of as a mushroom is not only delicious but also not what you could call the body of the mushroom itself. The things we eat are just fruiting bodies that the larger organism create to reproduce. There are obvious implications to that statement that I will refrain from expounding upon. Suffice to say that a mushroom can be cut back and regrown and then eaten again. Which is super cool. Also, they are nature’s garbage disposals. The actual organism, which is the fuzzy rootlike system you may see running through dead limbs and stuff, that part is actively breaking down whatever dead thing it’s on and converting those nutrients into another form and then we eat that form. THIS IS SO COOL.
Here’s where things get fun. Mushrooms have all these downsides like being crazy poisonous or making you have an out-of-body experience or whatever. But some of them have milder effects which can help you have a better day by lessening the impact of stress hormones or increasing your focus. Vision has found a wrinkle in the very packed coffee scene here in Austin and paired their coffee with beneficial mushrooms, so let’s talk about them.
Instead of my normal cup of black coffee I got their signature latte which mixes an espresso with Vision’s adaptogen blend of beneficial mushrooms, as well as other good stuff like honey and cinnamon. All together it’s a wonderfully cozy drink to enjoy on a day that’s cold and cloudy, but really on any day. It’s smooth and comforting and, whether or not it’s the mushrooms, I did feel less stressed on the way to work and a lot more focused while I was working. Honestly, it’s worth a shot based on the quality of the drink itself — the added benefits are icing on top of a delicious cake.
There’s so much to love about Vision, especially the fact that the barista is extremely friendly and you can swap stories about good shops to go to & how one absurd video on social media can drive customers to your front door. I will say that it’s a bit difficult to find, but that’s about my only issue. When you search for them in your map, it won’t show up and, when you click the address in their Instagram bio, it will take you to a place just down the road. In both instances my annoyance is with Apple Maps and not Vision themselves; they’re doing a great job. But if you find yourself searching for them, you want to go to the SOCO market, that’s where you’ll find them.
Alright everyone, thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you have a great day, possibly improved by some adaptogens in your coffee!
